Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and investigate event logs for suspected activities.
- Identify potential security incidents and respond promptly.
- Conduct threat and vulnerability analysis to assess risks.
- Propose mitigation strategies based on findings.
- Investigate, document, and report any information security issues.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to address incidents effectively.
- Recommend improvements to processes, policies, and procedures based on emerging threats and impacts.
- Stay informed about industry best practices.
- Adhere to SOC2, Type 2 organization compliance requirements.
- Demonstrate familiarity with prevalent cyber threats, including malware, phishing attacks, DDoS attacks, BEC, lay-and-wait, and man-in-the-middle attacks.
- Use and understand Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions.
- Create reports, summaries, presentations, and process documents to display risk analysis results.
- Present security findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Experience with tools such as EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response), MXDR (Managed XDR), SASE (Secure Access Service Edge), intrusion detection systems (IDS), and vulnerability scanners.
- Proven problem-solving skills, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to prioritize and address security incidents promptly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Cyber Defense Incident Responder
Livonia, Michigan
We pride ourselves on our immersive educational approach to developing cybersecurity talent through our registered apprenticeship program. We are seeking a Cyber Defense Incident Responder to join our team through our 16-month apprenticeship program. In this role, you will work alongside experienced technicians and engineers, gaining hands-on experience in implementing security procedures, monitoring and responding to cyber threats, and performing forensic investigations to protect digital infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain information security procedures and policies
- Design and implement security controls to identify vulnerabilities and protect digital assets
- Monitor external data sources to stay updated on emerging cyber threats
- Analyze log files from various sources to identify potential security threats
- Perform incident triage, determining scope, urgency, and potential impact
- Handle real-time cyber defense incidents, including intrusion tracking and system remediation
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and security breach investigations
- Document findings and publish reports with remediation recommendations
- Gather intrusion artifacts to facilitate incident mitigation
- Produce after-action reviews and update incident handling documentation
Qualifications
- Strong interest in cybersecurity and incident response
- Basic understanding of network security concepts
- Problem-solving skills and analytical thinking ability
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
- Must be able to pass a detailed background check (required for SOC 2 Type 2 compliance)
